Every parent's worst nightmare is leaving a child in distress and having to turn your back on them in the hope that they will settle down eventually. Have you ever left your child with a babysitter or the in-laws with him/her screaming blue murder as you left, only to find out when you peaked through the window that he or she was fine and merrily playing without you.
That aside, at Highnam Day Nursery, we recognise the importance of familiar surroundings, the comfort that your child gets from a welcoming happy smile and the peace of mind for you, that your child will be looked after in the professional way that he or she deserves.

After we have confirmed your child's booking we will encourage you to visit the nursery (2 - 3 sessions is recommended). Your child can join in with the activities to become familiarised with the surroundings and the other children in that group. Before your child starts with us you will be allocated a dedicated 'Key Worker' who will be responsible for introducing your child to the new surroundings, other children and staff. The key worker will also be on hand to talk about your child's progress with you at any time during his/her stay with us. To help out in the early days of settling in parents are asked a handful of key questions to give our staff some indication of their home routine and everyday habits. If you or your child feel it is essential to bring along an item of 'comfort' from home then please feel free to do so.

SECURITY As stated briefly earlier we take the security of our staff and your child very seriously. With this in mind, if for any reason you cannot collect your child you MUST notify our manager (not your key worker) on that day, providing us with the name and description of the person that will be collecting your child along with a security password prior to collection. Please be aware that for added security the outer doors of the Highnam Day Nursery are alarmed and will sound when opened.
CLOTHING Please make sure that all your child's clothing and belongings are personalised with your child's full name. We strongly advise that you bring a change of clothing for your child in case of any little accidents. As part of our welcome pack we will supply you with a Highnam Day Nursery kit bag and T-shirt for your child. It is important that your child feels happy, so we encourage them to bring a pair of indoor shoes or slippers to put on whilst playing indoors. | |
