ACTIVITIES FOR LEARNING
At Highnam Day Nursery we carefully plan and structure your child's day to make sure that all of the activities cover the 'Early Learning Goals' as set out by the governing body, OFSTED. These goals emphasise early literacy, numeracy and development of personal and social skills, expanding your child's knowledge and understanding of the world.
Through meticulous planning your child will benefit from an exciting programme of activities centred on a given theme or topic. During activities we emphasise the significance of developing individual creativity resulting in the children being happy, motivated and keen to learn.
Although the children are encouraged to learn we do not actually sit and teach them as they would be taught in school. This is an OFSTED requirement as it sometimes hinders the children when they go to school. We do however encourage basic skills, many of which
